HUMOUR AND COMEDY
Curated by ALI BACON with EILEEN CAMERON
Morning in the Murch Room / Afternoon in the Duncan Room
From satire to spoof and from parody to farce there are many types of humorous writing and it’s easy to forget them as we plough our lonely and sometimes lugubrious writer’s furrow. I’m hoping contributors will help shape the day and make suggestions about the shape it will take. We have plenty of time – this is just a starting point!
Morning: behind closed dooors
Please bring anything you have written of a comical nature so that we can decide what makes it work (or how it could be funnier). If you have nothing of your own to offer up, bring the funniest thing you have ever read, whether it’s a book, a poem or an opinion piece.
With our funny bones warmed up, we could try our hands at doing it for ourselves. Prompts and ideas can be provided. Any gems will be saved and featured in the afternoon programme.
Afternoon: in front of an audience
A medley of comedy: anything you would like to read and I hope there will be lots to choose from.
Shall we be brave and try out new work, rely on things we have tucked away, or bring forgotten classics to the light of day?
The choice is ours/yours.
Two co-curators required to refine these ideas and plan the day in response to what comes in. IT skills probably not a requirement this time.
Please email me personally with any ideas or suggestions.
